Words After Work: Wellness and Writing Workshop
When: June 19, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Very limited enrollment.
Enrollment deadline: June 12, 5 p.m.
Who: Adults - mainly geared for those who are balancing writing with a second role or day job
Genre: Nonfiction narrative and reflective writing
Where: The Emma Andrews Library and Community Center, 77 Purchase Street, Newburyport (corner of Purchase and Marlboro Streets--just off the Joppa Flats waterfront). Ample and free parking in the surrounding streets.
Fee: $30 per person - including light refreshments. Part of the fees will support the Library's literacy programs.
Why: Because the 21st-century workplace is demanding and distracting, so we need to write our way to a quieter, more authentic self.
This Workshop Will Cover:
- The documented benefits of expressive writing for wellness and resilience
- How to develop and maintain a consistent writing practice
- Journaling (online and paper) to build your unique narrative voice
- A brief overview of current nonfiction genres (if time allows)
- Short writing exercises and peer review

About My Creative Writing Workshops
I have been leading creative writing workshops and classes with adults and teens for over 17 years.
As well as a degree in teaching, a master's in English and extensive experience in writing, editing and publishing, I have an in-born capacity to listen, inquire and empathize. Above all, I believe in delivering a value-packed, content-rich class in which each student gets heard.
